Welll.....leaving my reasons about Jeebus on the level of theology and how his mission got trashed and warped by his followers to their own ends... I'm extremely curious to find out what the truth is re Gilgamesh from his own perspective, because my take on it (from the most complete translation at the time I was taking Middle East History at Columbia) is that it seems to be a mythologized apologetic for the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Not much else remains of Gilgamesh's legacy, and it seems that this epic was an attempt to explain his story to his people in a way that they would understand and sympathize with. Especially considering as this was a time before there was such a mental division/concept as gay/straight, and because he and Enkidu were both such strong and virile and 'manly' men, it'd be something to get the full story in his own words, ya know...?
